Srinagar, Dec 27 (KNO): Amid the ongoing snowfall and slippery road conditions, the District Magistrate, Baramulla and Traffic Police, Rural Kashmir issued stringent travel restrictions for motorists on critical routes, including Tangmarg-Gulmarg and other hilly roads in the region.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the advisory, backed by Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, restricts heavy vehicles and buses from traveling beyond Tangmarg, while only light vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains are permitted for essential travel.
Tourist vehicles are restricted to operate only between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m, while authorities are mandated to clear snow and sprinkle salt on frozen surfaces for safer travel.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police stressed that only 4x4 vehicles and vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains will be allowed on other key roads, such as Zojila and Mughal Road. Unauthorized parking and vehicles with invalid documents will face strict penalties, they said.
Residents and tourists are urged to adhere to these guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure smooth movement along these critical routes—(KNO)
